Mental Health

Becoming a parent can be challenging. We are here to help.

ROSE Program

The ROSE Program (Reach Out, Stay Strong, Essentials for mothers of newborns) is an evidence-based program that has been shown to reduce cases of postpartum depression by half in a series of randomized control trials. Since 2019, MOMS has offered the ROSE program as part of our Healthy Beginnings program and health education classes. The ROSE curriculum is offered in the following classes:

  • Preparing for Motherhood/Preparandome para la Maternidad
  • Postpartum Support Group
  • Mujer Sana/Healthy Woman Class

To register for one of these classes, please visit the Class Registration page.

Therapy

For clients enrolled in our Healthy Beginnings program, we offer short-term therapy with a bilingual licensed mental health professional who specializes in perinatal mental health. This service is intended to be a bridge while clients wait to access long-term support, if needed.

Postpartum Support Visits

These extended visits support new moms in the first 6 months postpartum who are at risk for or showing symptoms of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. The visits include education and support to decrease symptoms and increase skills related to self-care and seeking help.

Thriving Relationships

Life’s stressors and challenges can weigh heavily on a new or expectant mother’s mental health. Preparing for and having a baby can sometimes add to one’s anxiety and depression. You are not alone. MOMS surrounds you with support and resources to help you through your journey.

  • A caring friend – your case worker is someone you can always talk to, someone who will listen to your concerns. Your case worker will also help you connect with professional services, if needed.
  • Thriving Relationships – education and support for mothers who are at risk for, or have experienced intimate partner violence in the past.

Our team of case workers, nurse case managers, and program staff have completed extensive training to help mothers gain strength and tools for coping.
